Our Health Testing Services
Our health testing services include OFA and CHIC evaluations, ensuring transparency, responsible breeding, and healthier French Bulldogs through documented screening.
What is OFA?
Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA)
What Does OFA Test For?
X-rays, physical exams, and DNA testing.
OFA is a program that evaluates our Frenchie’s for inherited orthopedic and genetic conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia.
Hip results are classified as excellent, good, fair. Elbow results are normal, grade I, II, III.
Our frenchies undergo X-rays for hips and elbows, DNA and physical exams, which are evaluated by a radiologist for joint health.
Physical exams test for patellar luxation (kneecap) and heart abnormalities.
DNA tests for various genetic conditions.
We test for spine, cardiac, trachea, patella’s, elbow, and hips.
DNA includes HUU, CDDY, CDPA, A-locus, D-locus, I locus, S-locus, CMR1, JHC, Adamts3, and Cystinuria Type 3, all three.

Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome (BOAS).
A significant cause of death in French Bulldogs is respiratory failure due to breathing and respiratory issues.
Fortunately, there is BOAS testing that can be done on a Frenchie. Breeding quality breathers is a focus of the Grace and Grit Frenchies program.

Why Do We Health Test Our Frenchies?
We test because it assists us in choosing healthy parents for our puppies, improve the breed, helps owners know potential issues their dog might encounter, as well as manage health management. Dogs must be two years old for final testing.
AKC Bred with H.E.A.R.T Program
We are also members of the AKC H.E.A.R.T. Program – Health, Education, Accountability, Responsibility and Tradition.
How Much Does It Cost To Ofa Test?
$1,000 + for comprehensive testing. More for CHIC. We typically spend around $1,300 per dog.
